Identity is a 5-week group fine art exhibition that examines who we are as individuals, and what defines us.
This is a national exhibition with an open call.
Artists from the US are encouraged to submit:
- portraits and other figurative works
- non-figurative artwork that relates to the theme, such as abstract work, is also welcomed.
- work that is journalistic or personal explorations of self.
- work that explores what it means to have identity in a group. (i.e. LGTBQ, Latino, Christian, a teacher, senior citizen, etc)
- other work relating to the theme stated above.
- Both traditional and non-traditional work will be considered, including (but not limited to) artwork that is conceptual in nature.
J + K Isacson are the curators for this exhibition, working in partnership with the The Old Court House Arts Center.
This show is open to all artists in the US. Selected functional fine artisan pieces will be included.
All artwork must be original, and totally conceived and created by the artist.
Artists who ship work to the gallery for the show will need to cover the cost of shipping work to the gallery, return shipping and any insurance for the packages. Further directions will be provided upon acceptance. Please note in your submission if you are shipping work.
Any artwork that is damaged during shipping or not ready to hang per specifications below will not be included in the show. Work that arrives without a return shipping label/paid postage will not be returned.
Jury fees are non-refundable. Submissions without a jury fee will be considered incomplete.

2D work: All art must be presented to exhibit in a frame and wired on the back. (Wire must be wide enough to hang on a 3" hanging structure. If you have a mixed media piece or painting that is designed to exhibit without a frame, it will need to be professionally finished on all sides.
3D work: the Old Courthouse gallery has a limited number of pedestals for use. If you require a pedestal for your work, please request one with your submission, noting any size requirements.
If any accepted pieces are dramatically different in person from the submitted image, are in poor condition or are not framed properly, they may be removed from the exhibition without a refund.
The Old Court House Arts Center will handle sales. Commission is 30%.
Joe and Kathleen Isacson, and The Old Courthouse Arts Center are not liable for any loss, theft, damage or deterioration of artwork before, during, or after the show.
Participating artists assume responsibility for their property and their personal safety.
Insurance coverage for Artists’ property is the responsibility of the Artist.
Artists are responsible for adhering to copyright laws that may pertain to their work.
J and K Isacson and the The Old Court House Arts Center may use Artist’s Name, biographical information as submitted by the artist, and images of their artwork for the sole purpose of promoting the exhibition.
This information will be used for online and print publications, social and broadcast media, and marketing materials including postcards and flyers. Artists release Kathleen Isacson & the Old Court House Arts Center from any liability resulting from the use of this information. Photos of the opening reception, exhibit (possibly including artist & artwork) may be used to promote current and future shows.
Jury & hanging fees are used to support the promotion and operation of this event and are non-refundable. Jury fees may be paid online or by check. Checks should be made out payable to Kathleen Isacson. Jury Fee is $20 for up to 5 images until Oct 20, $25 for fees mailed with a postmark of Oct 21 through Nov 20 Mail checks to Kathleen Isacson, 833 Blue Mound Dr, Crystal Lake, IL 60014

Artist Notifications will by made by midnight, November 26. When all notifications have been made, an announcement will be posted on Facebook here.
The hanging fee for accepted artists is $30 per artist. This helps us have a lower hanging fee, is is due no later than December 10, 2018.
